RU professor emeritus Fakhrul dies with Covid-19 symptoms

Dr. Fakhrul Islam (82), retired Emeritus Professor of the Department of Applied Chemistry of Rajshahi University died in Coronavirus symptoms at the Corona Ward of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Thursday noon.  He was a resident of Kazihata area of Rajshahi city. 

Dr. Saiful Ferdous, Deputy Director of RMCH informed, Emeritus Professor Fakhrul Islam was admitted to the hospital with fever and breathing complications on Thursday morning and he died at noon. 

However, samples from his body have been collected for testing to confirm whether he had been suffering from Coronavirus. His dead body has been handed over to Quantum Foundation for the funeral.  

It is learnt, Emeritus Professor Dr. Fakhrul Islam was born in Calcutta in 1938. His father Mir Ahmed was the Vice Principal of Rajshahi College. 

Dr. Fakhrul was awarded the honour of Emeritus Professor in 2003.
