Authority of Rajshahi University on Tuesday received worth Tk 25 lakh from Shaheed Kamruzzaman and Zahanara Zaman Foundation for providing scholarship among the meritorious and underprivileged students of the university.
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation and elder son of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman and Jahanara Zaman, handed over a bank cheque to RU Vice-chancellor Professor Abdus Sobhan at a simple ceremony at Senate Building on Tuesday.
Speaking at the function, Mayor Liton said that meritorious and destitute students will be benefited getting the facilities of this scholarship. In future, the scholarship facilities would be given to more of students.
In every three months, one student from the departments of Law, History, Psychology, Computer Science and Engineering and Economics will get the scholarship of Taka 3,000 from the fund.
Mentioning facilities of the scholarship, the city Awami League senior vice president Shahin Aktar Reni said, “We should be work for developing of the country and its nations.”
RU VC Sobhan said, Kamruzzaman is one of the renowned leaders. To acquire independence of the country, he kept a significant contribution. People always remembered him and his good works.
Conducted by RU acting registrar Professor MA Bari, pro vice chancellors Professor Ananda Kumar Saha, Professor Chowdhury M Zakaria, proctor professor Lutfar Rahman, students, AL leaders and activists were present at the function, among others.
