Police seized about one maund of rotten beef while selling in Benapole Bazar in  Ramadan on Saturday.  A syndicate lead by Mizan butchers has been slaughtering dead cows in the middle of the night for a long time and selling it openly in the market.

This morning while selling rotten beef, the crowd   immediately informed the police. The police, municipality and Bazar committee came to the spot and recovered the rotten beef.

Later, the meat was mixed with kerosene and buried in the ground, but no legal action was taken against Mizan. The locals complained that many of them were suffering from diseases of stomach after eating  rotten and decayed meat.

However, the syndicate repeatedly sold sick and rotten beef, but the police did not touch him. Benapole Municipal Sanitary Inspector Rashida Begum has long been threatened by other butchers, including Mizan Butcher in Benapole Bazar, for obstructing the sale of sick and dead beef.

They have been slaughtering dead and sick cows without informing the municipal council in the middle of the night to avoid the municipal sanitary inspector.

"I buy beef from Mizan's shop last week, i could not eat it,” said Saheb Ali, a consumer from Dighir Par village in Benapole municipality. There are many such  complaints of the locals about the rotten beef.

Benapole Port Police SI Mostafizur Rahman said that police seized 1 maund rotten beef and mixed with kerosene buried in the ground.
