Ropa Aman saplings distributed among flood-hit farmers

Under Lakshmipur 2020-21 Agricultural Incentive Programme, Ropa Aman saplings were distributed among flood-affected farmers in Lakshmipur’s Samserabad on Monday.

Due to the recent collapse of the embankment, continuous heavy rain and tide in Meghna have caused severe damage to about 26,000 hectares of Aush, Ropa Aman, seedbeds, vegetables and other crops in Lakshmipur. The government has taken various steps to overcome this loss of farmers including emergency sapling distribution.

The government is providing agricultural machinery with 50 per cent subsidy, seeds, fertilizers and incentives to the farmers said, Director General of the Department of Agricultural Extension Agriculturalist Md. Abdul Mueed during the distribution pragramme. Lakshmipur DAE Deputy Director Belal Hossain Khan presided over the programme while Agriculturalist Md. Abdul Mueed attended as the chief guest. 

At this time the farmers presented their problems before the Director General. Earlier, the Director General visited various affected areas and assured the farmers of overall cooperation from the government.
