The Rooppur- Gopalganj 400 KV transmission line has been launched successfully. Through the inauguration of the transmission line at 3-22 PM Monday, the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) has achieved the full capacity of transmission of electricity to the national grid from the first unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP).
The length of the Rooppur-Gopalganj 400 KV line is 158 kilometers, the number of towers is 414. Earlier, two more high-voltage lines were constructed for the physical startup of the first unit. On June-30, 2022, the Rooppur-Baghabari 230 KV transmission line and on April-30, 2024, the 230 KV Rooppur-Bogura transmission line were inaugurated. With the inauguration of the Rooppur-Gopalganj Transmission lines, three transmission lines are now ready for operation. Every transmission line is with a capacity of 2,000 megawatts, informed PGCB sources.
