The country’s top archer, Roman Shana, hinted that he might consider his return to the national fold if the Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) increased the facilities.

“My position has remained unchanged. I will not return unless the federation improves the facilities,” Shana said.

Shana notified the BAF of his departure from the national team in late February, and the federation accepted the resignation during its executive committee meeting on Friday while debating Ruman’s potential comeback.

Speaking to the media at the same event, BAF General Secretary Kazi Razib Uddin Ahmed Chapal stated, “We want him back. The ball is now in his court. But, I believe, he has psychological issues. I have evidence. He requires treatment.”

When Shana was asked about Chapal’s remark, he responded, “I have no psychological problems. I am absolutely OK. Otherwise, how am I communicating with you?”

Shana wished to meet with Minister for Youth and Sports Nazmul Hasan to discuss this issue and athletes’ difficulties. “I’d like to meet with the minister to go over the details of this situation. I want to tell him about athletes’ problems. I hope he listens to me,” he concluded.
