Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur has donated Tk 7.5 lakh to the family of Abu Saeed who was killed during the recent violence over the quota movement.
On Friday morning, a university delegation visited Pirganj in Rangpur and handed over a check for Tk 7.5 lakh to Saeed’s parents.
This financial support highlights the university’s commitment to standing by the students and their families at the time of hardship, a university official said. Proctor Md Shariful Islam said Saeed’s family
has been given the financial assistance following the instructions from Vice-Chancellor Prof Hasibur Rashid.
“The university administration is also in constant contact with Saeed’s family,” he added.
The delegation comprised Proctor Md Shariful Islam Tuhin Wadud, head of Bengali Department, Asaduzzaman Mondal, general secretary of the university teachers’ association, and Ferozul Islam, president of the officers’ association.
Abu Saeed, 22, a 12th batch student of English Department a Begum Rokeya University, was killed on July 16 during protest at the Park intersection of the university. He was a resident of Pirganj upazila in Rangpur.
