‘Rokeya Debate Festival’ concludes

The two-day '4th Rokeya Debate Festival' organized by Dhaka University Rokeya Hall Debate Club ended on Saturday. University Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony held at the auditorium of the hall last evening and handed over the prizes to the winners.

Rokeya Hall Debate Club President Arpita Goldar presided over the closing ceremony. Jinat Huda, Dhaka University Education and Research Institute Professor M Ahiduzzaman, Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission. Rumana Islam, Hall Debating Club Moderator Samshad Nawrin and Dhaka University Debating Society President Sheikh Mohammad. Arman and General Secretary Maksuda Akter Tama were present as special guests. Hall Debating Club General Secretary Arju Afrin Cathy conducted the ceremony. Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman said that the professional participation of women in all walks of life, including in rural areas, has increased a lot. The inclusive participation of women continues to play an important role in the overall development of the country.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has become a role model in the world for the empowerment of women and the remarkable progress of women's society. Many countries around the world are now following the Prime Minister's thoughts and philosophy as a unique example of women leadership.

Referring to Begum Rokeya as a pioneer and pioneer of the progress of women's society, the Vice-Chancellor further said that following her ideals, students should develop themselves as rational people and good citizens and work for the development of the country. She said that many women in the society are still facing various adversities. The Vice-Chancellor called upon all concerned including teachers, students and alumni to identify the indigent and meritorious female students in the university and bring them under the purview of social security.

In this year's festival, Jahangirnagar University's Debating Society of Economics has become the champion in the inter-club debate competition and the debating team of Jagannath University has become the runner-up. At the school level the debate practice center has been the champion and the suffix debating club runner up.
