Bhashan Char Island has become a big step in the rehabilitation process for displaced Rohingyas. This huge area considered as a temporary habitation of Rohingya refugees in the country had been inhabited by 303 Rohingyas for some time now as a test, which has turned out successfully. All that awaits now is the relocation of other Rohingyas to Bhashan Char.

According to a report published in this daily, the much-awaited Rohingya relocation to Bhasan Char Island in Noakhali district from Cox's Bazar camps has finally begun. Around 1000 more Rohingyas will now inhabit the island from now on, until repatriation is done to Myanmar. It is also reported that NGOs working in Rohingya camps have allegedly been opposing the relocation since Bangladesh's initiation of efforts to shift the refugees to the island.

This crisis hit the world in the face with

what has been termed  the fastest-spreading

humanitarian crisis

The way that NGOs have been causing hindrances for the government in relocation is quite disconcerting. However, it is good to see that finally the long-awaited relocation of the Rohingyas is underway. The situation at the camps where the Rohingyas have been staying at is comparatively on the down side than that of the Bhashan Char island.

Now it seems that the situation is also getting better with the relocation mentality of Rohingyas. Experts opine that arrangements have been made for the accommodation of Rohingyas in Bhasan Char and various government and non-government agencies are working to relocate them.

There are about one million Rohingyas living in the Ukhia and Teknaf refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, who have crossed the border into Bangladesh. This crisis hit the world in the face with what has been termed the fastest-spreading humanitarian crisis. We hope that this crisis will soon be resolved with the participation of international community.
