Rapid Action Battalion on Sunday detained 9 member of an inter-district robbers ring with local weapons and drugs, by conducting a drive at Kundulbag area of Ashulia in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
RAB also recovered eight of locally made weapons, 266 pieces of Yaba tablet, one bear, 11 of Mobile handset, and cash 19,725 from their possession during the drive.
Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury, Assistant Police Superintendent and the Media Officer of RAB-4 confirmed the matter.
The detainees were identified as Ripon Miah, 30, Sanowar Hossain, 38, Sanowar Hossein Pathan, 35, Liton Reza alias Raza 34, Saiful Islam, 32, Ahad Ali, 38, Ashraf Ali, 40, Al Amin, 25, and Rokonuzzaman, 34.
RAB said, the robber's ring has taken position at Ashulia intend to carry out robbery incident, based on such information, RAB conducted the drive and detained them, and recovered some locally made weapons, drugs, mobile handsets, and cash from their possession after search. In addition, Primarily the detainees were confessed that they have been carrying out robbery incidents targeting moving buses on the highway at Savar, Ashulia, and Dhamrai areas for long, even they injure victims with those locally-made weapons when anybody protest.
