A robbery took place on the Dhankhola road in Gangni, Meherpur, where unidentified robbers detonated handmade cocktails to create panic and looted pedestrians. The incident occurred on Wednesday night.
According to police and victim accounts, the stretch of road from Dhankhola to Gangni Thanapara is relatively deserted and known for robbery incidents. During the night, a group of 8–10 unidentified robbers carried out the attack by setting off explosive devices.
The victims — Ariful Islam from Kachabazarpara in Gangni, Shishir Ali from Kastadah village, and Biplob Hossain from Dhankhola — were robbed of cash and mobile phones at gunpoint before the assailants fled the scene. Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bani Israel confirmed the incident, stating that police visited the site and are currently investigating to identify and apprehend those responsible.
