On the basis of secret information, a joint operation was conducted by BCG station Patharghata and Police at a house in Padma area under Patharghata police station of Barguna on Friday night.
During the operation, a robber named Kamal (30) was arrested from the house. Later, according to the information given by him, 05 single-barrelled local ruffles were recovered from a pond adjacent to the house.
It is believed that they dropped the weapons in the pond after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
The arrested robber Kamal, son of Md. Jamal is a resident of Patharghata police station in Barguna.
The arrested robber and seized weapons were handed over to Patharghata police station for legal action against them.
The Coast Guard has adopted zero tolerance policy against forest piracy, robberies, drug dealing and illegal entry in the area under their coverage and will continue to do so.
