Robber arrested with stolen bag of Italian citizen

Four people were arrested with the goods recovered and the CNG used in the robbery in the case of the robbery of the handbag of the Italian citizen photographer Christina Gamma Capra in Chittagong city.  Those arrested are Md Rubel (26), Md Nuruddin (45) and Md Momin (50).

On Thursday night, three people were arrested in raids at different places in the city.  The stolen mobile and the CNG autorickshaw used in the robbery were also seized.

 According to the police, when he was walking from Chittagong District Shilpakala Academy after the program, at 10.38 pm in front of Karnaphuli Tower, the accused came to the CNG store and threatened the victim with 1 black hand bag, 2 credit cards of Italian bank called Intesa Sanpaolo, cash 30 thousand taka and 1 mobile set along with necessary documents were taken away.  After the incident, Kotwali lodged a complaint at the police station. 

Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (Kotwali Zone) Atanu Chakraborty of Kotwali Zone said, 'CCTV footage was collected from 50 places of the incident after receiving the complaint.

People are hired to transmit secret information.  The CCTV camera footage shows that 'Siratal Mustakim' was written on the back of the CNG autorickshaw.  At least 100 garages of 16 police station areas were searched after identifying the name "Siratal Mustakim" and the accused M. Rubel was arrested from Chawkbazar police station area around 5 pm on Thursday.  At that time, the CNG auto-rickshaw used in the robbery was recovered and the stolen cash of Tk 8,200 was recovered.

 Kotwali police station OC SM Obaidul Haque said, when we started preliminary interrogation of Rubel, he revealed the names and addresses of other absconding accused.  

Based on his information, Noor Uddin Prakash Riaz was arrested from Cinema Palace area and the money in his custody was recovered.  Then night after night.  Momin was arrested from Old Railway Station area and a mobile set was recovered.  Another accused Arafat Miah was arrested at 2 am from North Dhurung area of Fatikchari and looted cash 3800 taka was recovered from his custody.
