Road crashes leave 2 dead in Ctg

At least two people including a child were killed and seven others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Hathazari and Fatikchari upazilas of Chattogram on Sunday.

In Fatikchari, a 20-year-old youth died in a collision between a CNG-run autorickshaw and a battery-run autorickshaw at Bhujpur Kazirhat of the upazila at around noon.

The deceased Hafez Md Shakeel was a student of Babunagar Madrasa of Fatikchari and son of Md Nasir Uddin of Bhola.

The injured are children Raisa Moni, 6, Wazia, 15, and Md Yusuf, 36. Dr Arefin Azim, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, said that they received four people with serious injuries.

Among them, one succumbed to his injuries. The body was handed over to Bhujpur police. And, rest were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Md. Kamruzzaman, Officer-in-charge of Bhujpur police station, said that the body will be handed over to the family after due procedure.

Meanwhile, a CNG auto-rickshaw lost control and hit from behind a truck standing on the side of the road in Hathajari, leaving a child dead and four people injured.

The deceased Shorenil Mahajan, 1, was the daughter of injured Shaswat Ritvik Mahajan, 34. Injured CNG driver Yakub, Shaswat Ritvik Mahajan, 34, Riddhi Das, 14 and Manisha Das, 24, are undergoing treatment at the hospital, Md. Anis, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nazirhat Highway Police Station said.
