A minor girl was killed in a road accident in Bokshiganj upazila of Jamalpur on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Tanha Akhter, 3.
The incident occurred on Zilla Khana Road as she was crossing the street with her mother, Lucky Begum.
Tanha Akhter, daughter of Jalal Uddin from Simarpar village, was struck by a speeding auto-rickshaw. Severely injured, she was rushed to Bokshiganj Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Bokshiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandaker Shaker Ahmed confirmed the incident and said legal action is underway.
The tragic loss has sparked grief in the local community, raising serious concerns about reckless driving and the urgent need for stricter traffic enforcement. Residents are urging authorities concerned to implement speed control measures and ensure pedestrian safety, particularly in residential areas.
