Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) launched a tree plantation campaign today aimed at protecting ecological balance.
RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique launched the campaign by transplanting some saplings of forest, fruit and herbal in the Modonhati area under Paba Police station.
Additional Commissioner Mazid Ali, Deputy Commissioner Saifuddin Saheen and Additional Deputy Commissioners Rafiqul Alam and Nure Alam were present.
RMP Commissioner Kalam Siddique said Rajshahi city has got a new look amid a massive plantation of trees and other beautification works are drawing the attention of the commoners, particularly the visitors.
Massive tree plantation can help reduce carbon emission at a substantial level and that is very important to protect the ecological balance in the dried region, he continued.
He viewed that there is no alternative to creating more forest areas to address the adverse impacts of climate change caused by global warming.
