Workers of a garments factory on Thursday blocked the Jaina Bazar-Kawraid regional road in Gazipur's Sreepur area, demanding arrears.
The protest began around 8:00am in the Jaina Bazar area of Telihati union, with over 200 workers participating.
As of 12:00pm, they were still protesting, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
Gazipur Industrial Police attempted to calm the protesters, urging them to be patient.
The protesting workers expressed frustration over unpaid salaries, saying that the high cost of living has made it difficult to support their families.
"Why don't they pay our overdue salaries? If the factory doesn't pay, how can we survive with our families?" a worker said.
Raihan Mia, sub-inspector of Gazipur Industrial Police said that the workers were demanding their salary for the month of October and police will speak to the factory owners to resolve the issue.
Sub-Inspector Ataur Rahman and a police team were present at the scene to maintain order.
Efforts to reach the managing director of the factory were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls.
