RMG workers of several readymade garment factories including peoples from other professions were protesting by blocking Dhaka-Aricha Highway an hour-long around 8:00 am at Radio Colony and Savar Bazaar Bus Stand area, after not getting any transport to go their workplaces even after waiting long in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Monday morning.
However, the protester later moves off from the highway when police asked them to free the road explaining the situation.
The protestors alleged that they are suffering from transport crisis as their factory authorities keep running factory operations amid this lockdown but they did not arrange transport facilities for workers.
“Auto-rickshaw and some other alternative though moving on the road but they collected 2 to 3 time’s additional fare from passengers,” workers said, demanding to arrange transport facilities for them if garments authority keeps running factory operation amid this lockdown.
