RMG worker violated, 3 held

Police on Wednesday arrested three youths for allegedly raping an adolescent girl, aged around 16, by conducting a drive at Hemayetpur area of Savar, on the outskirts of the capital. 

“The arrestees were produced before a Dhaka court and seven days’ remand for each of them was sought on Thursday morning”, Kazi Mainul Islam, Oc, Savar model police station said.

The arrestees were identified as Tarek Rahman, 21, Rabbi, 20, and Omit Hassan, 22. They all are ready-made garment workers.

According to the case statement, the victim works at a readymade garment factory in Savar. On Tuesday, the accused Tarek and Rabbi forcefully took the victim to Tarek’s rented room and duo rape her first. Later, Omit also entered the room and rape her again. At a stage, the accused were let the victim go, threatened that they would kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

However, afterward, the victim disclosed everything to her family and later her mother filed a case with Savar model police station.

The victim has been sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical examination, OC added.
