Rituparna Sengupta, who recently returned from China, is all praise for the hospitality meted out by the organisers of India Film Week of the 2019 China, South Asia and Southeast Asia Film Exhibition. Her film, Ahaa Re, directed by Ranjan Ghosh, along with Arjunn Dutta’s Abyakto and Indrasis Acharya’s Bilu Rakkhosh were screened in Kunming, China, from June 11 to June 14.

“I am moved by the hospitality of the organisers. A Chinese interpreter was with me 24x7 and we held many discussions on today’s cinema,” she said. Rituparna said that Ahaa Re, which is about the bonding between a Bangladeshi chef and a home chef from Kolkata, was seen with interest as the film also deals with Chinese food. On the sidelines of the India Film Week, there were discussions on releasing regional films in China. “We spoke about exchange of films. Bollywood films are already very popular there, but there has to be means to promote regional films as well. Distributors had come down from Malaysia and Korea and there were other films from Southeast Asia,” she said. The actress also bonded with Indrasis and Arjunn. She is a part of Indrasis’s next film, Parcel, and recently watched the film in a closed-door preview. Bilu Rakkhosh, Indrasis’ debut directorial, is about a man struggling to fight his inner demons, while Abyakto chronicles the life of a young man.
