Torab Ali alias Rezaul Karim is the mastermind of the gang, who introduces himself as Deputy Commissioner (DC), Superintendent of Police (SP), RAB chief and Jail Superintendent. RAB-15 arrested 6 people including the mastermind of that gang, Torab Ali alias Rezaul Karim.
They were arrested from in front of J-T International Bangladesh Limited of Phansiakhali Union of Chakaria Upazila around 12 o'clock on Monday in the area of Cox's Bazar-Chittagong highway. Cash 35 thousand taka, 5 magic dollars, 1 micro bus, 8 android mobiles and 2 button phones, 14 SIM cards were recovered.
RAB 15 Company Commander Additional Superintendent of Police Anwarul Islam gave the information in a press conference organized at RAB-15 Cox's Bazar Battalion office on Tuesday afternoon.
The arrested are Torab Uddin Shikdar (40), son of deceased Abu Bakkar Siddique of Lemsekhali area of Kutubdia upazila, head of the gang, son of Abdus Sattar of North Medhakchhapia area of Chakaria. Badsha (30), Tarekur Rahman (20), son of Zainal Abedin of Fansiakhali area of the same upazila, son of Abul Kashesh. Zobair (23), Mahmud Ullah's son Emdad Ullah Maruf (20) and Yunus Kabir's son Mishkat Jannat Juli (18).
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anwarul Islam, Company Commander of Cox's Bazar Camp of RAB-15 Cox's Bazar Battalion gave this information in the press conference. This fraudster has been active in Cox's Bazar district for more than 2 years. They target relatives of those in prison. Fraudulent gang members are spread around jail gates, courts and police stations.
Then target innocent people and collect their phone numbers. After that, the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, RAB chief and Jail Superintendent made a phone call to release the jailed persons. Then through development or occasionally calling them to the designated place and snatching huge amount of money.
Anwarul Islam said that there are 20 members of this gang. Their principal is Torab Ali. Torab Ali was poor. But in a very short time he became the owner of huge wealth through this fraud. Meetings and gatherings were held in the area with donations of more than crores of rupees, and the chief guest was there. Qutubdia also announced himself as the chairman candidate in the upazila elections. Torab Ali admitted these things to RAB.
Anwarul Islam also said that 6 people have been arrested so far in this fraudulent circle. An operation is underway to arrest the rest. At the same time, there are multiple cases against these 6 people. The RAB official also said that they will be handed over to the police station after filing a case under the relevant law.
