Rickshaw-puller dies without treatment

An elderly man died from fever and respiratory problems at his house in Fatullah area of Narayanganj on Tuesday (April 14) without receiving any treatment.

The deceased was identified as Jabber Hossain, 50, a rickshaw puller, who was a tenant of one Mokhles Mia’s house at West Deobhog Banglabazar of Fatullah area. Jewel, son of the rickshaw puller, told Bangladesh Post that his father had been suffering from fever, cough and breathing problems for a month. After 10 days of sufferings, family took him the Narayanganj General Hospital for treatment but they told to come later, he added.

Since then family tried each day to admit Jabbar at the hospital but their effort went in vain. Jabber was buried at Kashipur Khil Market central graveyard in Fatullah. Panicked by the death, locals contacted the district health center hotline, police and local administration but no authorities came to collect the sample of the dead body.  Policemen from Fatulla police station accompanied by local Union Parishad member visited the spot. 

Meanwhile, Jabber was buried following demand of people. Maksudul Alam Khandaker Khorshed, a councillor of Narayanganj City Corporation, they supplied PPE for burial.
