The government has allotted about 218 tons of rice for distribution among the 436 Puja Mandaps in 13 upazilas of the district on the occasion of Durga Puja.
Kishoreganj District Relief and Disaster Management official sources said 32.500 Metric tonns of rice for 65 puja mandaps of Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila, 7.5 tons of rice for 15 puja mandaps of Hossainpur Upazila, 8.00 Metric tonns of rice for 16 puja mandaps of Pakundia Upazila, 24 Metric tonns of rice for 48 puja mandaps of Katiadi Upazila, 8 Metric tonns of rice for 16 puja mandaps of Karimganj Upazila, 9 Metric tonns of rice for 18 puja mandaps of Tarail Upazila, 19.5 Metric tonns of rice for 39 puja mandaps of Itna Upazila, 9.5 Metric tonns of rice for 19 puja mandaps of Mitamain Upazila, 26 Metric tonns of rice for 52 puja mandaps of Austagram Upazila, 10.5 Metric tonns of rice for 21 puja mandaps of Nikli Upazila, 35.00 Metric tonns of rice for 70 puja mandaps of Bajitpur Upazila, 18.5 Metric tonns of rice for 37 puja mandaps in Kuliarchar Upazila and 10 Metric tonns of rice for distributed in 20 puja mandaps of Bhairab upazila.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) Kishoreganj Md. Lutfur Rahman said that, in the meantime rice distribution is completed and each puja mandaps got 500 kgs of rice, he said adding that the government has allocated the rice for the Puja Udjapon Committees of 436 Puja Mandaps to assist the Hindu Community in celebration of Duraga Puja in a befitting manner.
