Actor Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday in connection with drugs-related allegations in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. She was sent to judicial custody for 14 days and asked to go to a sessions court for bail. She is likely to do so today.
Rhea Chakraborty, who dated Sushant Singh Rajput in his final months, has been charged with organizing drugs for the Bollywood star after three days of questioning. She "is an active member of the drug syndicate connected with drug supplies," the Narcotics Control Bureau said in its court documents. She faces charges that could lead to jail for up to 10 years but the Narcotics Control Bureau makes no official mention of her using drugs.
"We have evidence against Rhea, which is why we arrested her. There is no need for custody," said Mutha Ashok Jain, a senior official of the Narcotics Control Bureau. He admitted that no drugs had been found on her. According to sources, Rhea Chakraborty broke down when confronted with her brother Showik Chakraborty, who was arrested last week.
Documents submitted in court say Rhea Chakraborty "procured drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput and used to manage finance for drug procurement with him". —NDTV
