Rezwana Choudhury Bannya to be awarded

Renowned Rabindra music artist Rezwana Choudhury Bannya has become renowned among the classic music lovers of Bangladesh and Kolkata through Rabindra Sangeet. 

This year, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya is receiving an award for her special contribution to Rabindra Sangeet and for being an alumni of Visva-Bharati University.

The award will be given to her on the special occasion which has been organized by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center on November 15 to honour their scholars.

It will be held at the main auditorium of the National Museum of Shahbag in the capital at 6:00pm. 

According to the cultural center, the legendary singer is getting the award for being the alumni of Visva-Bharati University and the Indian Council for Culture Relations. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das will hand over the award to her.

Along with this, she and her music organisation ‘Surer Dhara’ will perform music on the evening. She established the music school ‘Surer Dhara’ to expand and propagate Rabindra Sangeet in the subcontinent in 1992. She also established the ‘Surer Dhara College of Music’. She has also received numerous awards in recognition of her contribution to the field of literature and culture. She was awarded the Shadhinota Puroshkar in 2016. In 2017,  the Government of India honored her with the highest award of the West Bengal State Government, ‘Bangabhushan’.
