Revenue earning at Sona Masjid land customs station drops during the first five- months of 2020-'21 fiscal year.
According to sources, the target of revenue earning during the first five months of the current fiscal was 204 crore17 lakh 21 thousand but the actual revenue earning as against the target was Taka 145 crore 87 lakh 34 thousand which is Taka 58 core 29 lakh 87 thousand less than the target whereas the revenue earning during the last corresponding five months in 2019-'20 was Taka 89 crore 74 lakh and 51 thousand.
While informing about the deficit of revenue earning during this fiscal year authorities of Sona Masjid Customs, Importers and Exporters group, C&F Agents, Labourers Union and Panama informed, lack of coordination among the concerned organisations, the import of goods from India has been declined that is why the revenue earning target is not being fulfilled.
It is learnt, from the very first month of the present fiscal year, the revenue earning of Sona Masjid LC remained low except in the month of October when the revenue earning was Taka seven crore 62 lakh and 36 thousand more than the target of the month Taka 37 crore 51 lakh 62 thousand and the actual earnings of the month was Taka 45 crore 53 lakh 98 thousand.
Mominul Islam, Assistant Commissioner of Sona Masjid LC informed, the revenue earning in the month of December is likely to increase because of importing of fruits by the importers through the port from India.
Toufiqul Islam Babu, General Secretary of Sona Masjid Importers-Exporters Group said, the revenue earnings of Sona Masjid land port may surpass the income of all other land ports of the country if the same rule of revenue collection is applied with same facilities in all land ports of the country. Ruhul Amin, General Secretary of C&F Agents' Association at Sona Masjid also expressed the same opinion as that of Toufiul Islam.
