The atrocities of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami during the students’ quota movement have once again proved that their politics is not for the welfare of the  people rather they are doing politics of destruction. BNP and anti-liberation force Jamaat cannot be considered political party as they indulge in terrorist activities.

They (BNP-Jamaat clique) unleashed a reign of terror across the country cashing in on the quota movement to oust Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government. They wanted to give the quota movement a political shape to implement their evil design.. However, their deep-rooted conspiracy fell apart as they failed to reap any benefit by instigating the students’ protest.

The mayhem instigated by the BNP-Jamaat-Shibir cadres in the capital Dhaka unmasked their heinous plot to destabilise the country. The miscreants encouraged by BNP-Jamaat and anti-liberation forces in a planned way set on fire and vandalised metro rail stations, expressway, BTV Bhaban, Setu Bhaban and different other government and private buildings.

They destroyed numerous government and private vehicles including buses and trucks by setting them on fire. Under a well-orchestrated plot, the anti-liberation elements carried out the atrocities.

People, including students and policemen could not escape from the brutal attacks by the miscreants during the anti-quota protest. The life across the country has been  paralysed due to the "complete shutdown" programme and atrocities of B miscreants centering the quota movement.

Under the circumstances, on July 20, 2024, the government imposed a curfew to save life and property of people and bring back normalcy in the country.  Low income people, particularly day labourers, rickshaw and van pullers, hawkers, vendors, and transport workers, suffered immensely.

Awami League have to extend hands of cooperation to the country’s lower income, poor and working class people. Although the situation shows signs of improvement, the miseries of people are still far from over. The damaged and affected government and non-government institutions, business establishments, important infrastructures roads and toll plazas will have to be repaired immediately.

BNP did not participate in the national election and in the name of resisting the election, they previously unleashed arson terrorism.

It seems clear that there has been a deep-rooted plot as the BNP wants to push politics toward confrontation to make Bangladesh a failed country. They are involved in waging a movement to topple the government whereas the Awami League is busy protecting lives of people. It is now very clear to all that the BNP leaders and activists in association with anti-liberation forces are desperately trying to creats  disorder in  planned way.  The party (BNP) men also want to establish a reign of terror across the country.

Awami League which respect the democratic process and the people’s mandate. Awami League has done everything to restore democracy and people’s voting rights in the country.

BNP on the contrary, destroyed the country's democratic culture and values. The constitutional and democratic rights of the country’s people were crushed under the boots of the military dictatorship.  If the men of the BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists are found involved in violence their must be dealt with iron hand as per the law of the land.
