The government has unblocked all the social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube and TikTok 12 days after they remained halted due to the recent mayhem created by vested interest groups over the students’ quota reform movement.
In the wake of violence amid the students’ demonstrations for quota reform, the government on July 18 blocked mobile internet and broadband internet services. Bangladesh stayed disconnected with the world between July 18 and July 24 due to the suspension of both broadband and mobile internet services. Cashing in on the student movement, vested quarters led by BNP-Jamaat-Shibir have been spreading false information on different social media to destabilise the country.
BNP-Jamaat clique in collusion with the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are spreading rumors through editing videos and fake news to instigate violence. After failing to achieve political gains, they are now trying to create unrest by letting loose their armed cadres on the field by spreading rumours through various online portals like facebook and youtube. In the name of Basher Kella (Bamboo Fort) website. They unleashed a reign of terror in the capital city of Dhaka and other parts of the country from July 16 to March 19 as they did in 1971.
Some militant organisations linked with BNP-Jamaat- Shibir are now visible and they are instigating violence through social media. When the government went tough on them, they went into hiding and started uploading fake videos and false news on youtube and facebook to instigate violence.
They should not be spared for committing violence and anarchy across the country. We observed that the government tried to face the matter with utmost patience initially.
Led by BNP-Jamaat-Shibir have
been spreading false information
on different social media to
destabilise the country
Some militant groups led by BNP-Jamaat-Shibir, who attempted to unleash terrorism in the country earlier they have become active again to carry out terror activities by spreading false news through social media. They do not believe in the spirit of the Liberation War through which we have liberated our country from the Pakistan occupation forces at the expense of a sea of blood.
They (evil forces) must not be spared for carrying out the recent violence. They have hurt the spirit of the Liberation War by taking stand against the state.
Members of law enforcement agencies must find out those who are involved in spreading falsehoods through different social media like online portals, facebook and youtube to misguide people. It is very unfortunate that when the government is trying hard to rid the country of militancy and terrorism, anti-liberation elements continue to spread rumours and fake news to create unrest in the country.
The government must play a vital role in stopping the spread of rumours through social media. The pro-liberation forces being imbued with the spirit of Liberation War must be united to scotch rumours.
The government has made Digital Bangladesh. But today social media has been flooded with anti-state propaganda to destroy all the achievements of the present Awami League government. Being rejected at home and abroad, BNP-Jamaat-Shibir leaders are now spreading false news to destabilise the country riding on students’ quota protest. People who do not believe in Bangladesh’s independence they can do anything against the country.
Different militant outfits have extended their all-out support to BNP-Jamaat-Shibir to create unrest across the country for toppling the present government. So, we all should get united to resist this evil forces to protect of our beloved country.
