Like other parts of the country, the development progress in Dhamairhat upazila of Naogaon is far ahead compared to the past. Yet there are some issues in the area that are destroying the reputation of all the developments going on in the upazila.

For lack of concrete roads, locals of Jahanpur union of the upazila are suffering a lot for quite a long time. The speedy treatment of the patients and the quality education of the children are also being disrupted due to this. It is learned that more than 200 families live in Masterpara and Mojibar Para of Jahanpur Union of the upazila. They used to move through the isle of cropland. Despite the increase in population in the evolution of time, the people of the two villages have not found any concrete road for easy movement till date.

During the monsoon season or whenever it rains a little, the people of Masterpara and Mojibar Para fall into extreme suffering while walking along the narrow isle of one and a half feet width. Local resident Mizanur Rahman said, “I have been living in this village since 1956. We suffer extremely due to lack of better roads. It is not possible to go out of the house crossing mud and water in the rainy season. Due to lack of roads, marriage functions or other programmes cannot be conducted properly.” Hurmat Ali, an 80-year-old local, motorcycles cannot enter the area let alone three or four wheelers.

Abdullah Al Arman, an SSC examinee of Kazipara High School and Mirzatun Nahar, a student of Shahid Abdul Jabbar Secondary Girls' School and College, Mangalbari, who travel on the road regularly, said they could not go to school with books during the rainy season as the road becomes extremely muddy.

Local UP chairman Osman Ali said, “ meeting had been held with everyone including landowners Golzar, Akbar Ali, Quddus and Samsul in the area. I also offered to give Tk 80 thousand to the landlords. But since they did not agree to give away their lands, a road could not be build between the two old neighborhoods.”

Ali Hossain, Executive Engineer of the upazila LGED, said that first the visible road infrastructure has to be built through the people's representatives. This can also be done with a local 40-day programme. Then it is possible to do the road development work through an ID after being visited by the Upazila Engineering Department.
