Despite the increase of mask usage among locals in Gopalganj, a major lack of awareness in mask usage regulation is also spiking up in the district. Though experts suggest not to use a one-time mask for more than 5-6 hours and to throw the masks at specific places, locals in the area are not following these regulations properly.

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station OC Monirul Islam on Thursday noticed this unhygienic activities practiced by locals and pedestrians at the town markets. He saw that many people in the markets are throwing masks at the roads.

He then urged people in the town to not use one-time surgical mask for multiple times. He at the awareness session said that the risk of being infected by black fungus is very much likely if one-time surgical masks are being used for multiple times. And the mortality rate for black fungus is very high. Besides, the infection rate of Covid-19 Indian variant is in the rise at Gopalganj town.

He later urged people to buy 3-layered washable masks which is easily washable and can be used for multiple times.

OC Monirul Islam urged people of Gopalganj town to stay at home unless necessary and to use masks at outdoor.

During the session, Gopalganj Police Station Inspector MdSaiful Islam, BishwajitGhosh and other police officials were present.
