Remembering rock legend AB through his greatest hits

Ayub Bachchu is one of the bright stars in Bangladesh's music. For most Bangladeshis, if not all, Ayub Bachchu was one of the earliest music acts while growing up over the past four decades. Bachchu will remain in the heart of countless Bangla band music lovers.

Born in 1962, Chittagong, Ayub Bachchu has established himself as one of the best guitarists in the subcontinent. He was the founder of the Bangladeshi rock band LRB. In 1978, Ayub Bachchu went on a musical career with the 'Feelings' band. With tremendous fan acceptance AB is famous for his fabulous guitar skills.

Ayub Bachchu made his debut in the music industry by giving voice in the song 'Harano Bikiler Golpo'. He joined souls in early-1980 and played with the band for next 10 years (1980-1990) as the lead guitarist, songwriter and occasional singer. In 1986, he released his first music album 'Rakto Golap'. His success story began when his second album 'Moyna' was released.

AB’s song ‘Cholo Bodle Jai’ and ‘Ei Rupali Guitar Fele’ from the album 'Shukh' released in 1993 is widely considered one of the most enduring songs in Bangladeshi music.

Bachchu’s 3rd album ‘Koshto’ is regarded by many as his best work. It included hit songs like ‘Koshto Pete Valobashi’, Amio Manush, Koshto Kake Bole’ and ‘Jege Achi Eka’.

Apart from these ‘Meye tumi ki dukkho cheno’, ‘ Ami Baro Mash Tomai Bhalobashi’, ‘Ak Akasher Tara Tui Eka Gunish Ne’, ‘Chokh Bujile Hobe Ondhokar’, ‘Ar Beshi Kadale Ural Debo Akashe’, ‘Chokh Bujile Hobe Ondhokar’, ‘Sakkhi Thakuk Bishal Akash’ are some of his greatest songs that shows the brilliance of Bachchu’s emphatic vocals.

Bachchu was renowned for his musical scoring in Bengali films. His song in the movie ‘Loottoraj, ‘Anonto Prem Tumi Dao Amake’ directed by Kazi Hayat gained huge popularity. Bachchu’s another hit 'Ammajan Ammajan from ‘Ammajan’ movie was much popular among all.
