A human chain was formed in front of Manikganj Press Club on Wednesday noon demanding transfer of 'Guchhogram' project from in
front of Shahid Rafiq's house and Shaheed Minar.
'Shabbas Manikganj', a Facebook group, organized the human chain programme. Dewan Mominul Haque Admin of the Facebook group, President of Bangladesh Folklore Forum Writer and Researcher Miyazan Kabir, Manikganj Welfare Association Dhaka President Engineer Almas Uddin, General Secretary Abul Kashem Khan and others spoke at the time.
The speakers said that the 'Guchhogram' in front of Shahid Rafiq's
house and Shahid Minar is not desirable in any way. If a 'Guchhogram' is built there, movement to the house will be disrupted as hundreds of people from home and abroad come to this house throughout the year. They demanded the construction of 'Guchhogram' elsewhere to protect Rafiq's memorial house.
Shabbas Manikganj, Shahid Rafiq Uddin Smriti Parishad, Bhasha Andolan Smriti Raksha Parishad, Manikganj Kalyan Samiti Dhaka, Manikganj Youth Samiti Dhaka, Bangladesh Folklore Forum and District Hindu Mahajot took part in the human chain.
After the human chain, a memorandum was handed over to Manikganj Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
