A grand religious procession was brought out in the capital on Saturday to mark 12th Rabiul Awal, the holy day of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The “Jashne Julus” was organised by Anjumane Rahmaniya Mainiya Maizbhandaria, led by its president and Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP) chairman Shahsufi Dr. Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari.

Hundreds of thousands of Sufi devotees from across the country joined the event, which culminated in a “Shanti Mahasammelan” (Grand Peace Gathering) at Suhrawardy Udyan.

The procession, featuring colorful banners, festoons, placards, and flags inscribed with “Ya Nabi Salam Alaika” and “Ya Rasool Salam Alaika,” started from the western side of Suhrawardy Udyan.

It paraded through Doel Chattar, Shikkha Bhaban, and Kadam Fountain before returning to the venue. Participants carried a large national flag while chanting slogans of Narae Takbir and Narae Risalat.

Devotees in white T-shirts and caps filled the streets of the capital, adding to the festive atmosphere. Notably, women also took part in both the procession and the peace rally.

This year’s celebration carried added significance as it coincided with the 1500th anniversary of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

Addressing the gathering, Shahsufi Dr. Syed Saifuddin Ahmad Maizbhandari said, “The Holy Prophet (PBUH) is a special mercy from Allah for the entire humanity. By following his ideals, we can build a peaceful, just, and welfare-oriented society. Today’s world, torn by wars and conflicts, needs to embrace the teachings of Rasulullah (PBUH) for lasting peace.”

He urged devotees to internalize the message of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) in personal, family, and national life, saying that only then could peace, brotherhood, and humanity flourish in society.
