Dhaka and Tokyo have observed that regular holding of the Public Private Economic Dialogue (PPED) between the two counties would help attract more Japanese investment in Bangladesh, reports BSS. The observation was made while the newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Naoki Ito called on State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam on Tuesday at the foreign ministry here, a press release said today.

During the meeting, Alam thanked the Ambassador for concluding Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on recruiting ‘Specified Skilled Workers’ by Japan from Bangladesh.

The state minister expressed confidence that it will help receiving more skilled workforce from Bangladesh which will be beneficial for both the countries. Alam also sought support of Japan for early repatriation of the forcefully displaced Myanmar nationals to their homeland.
