Regular Pitha Utshob to be held at divisional level

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid said that from now on, regular Pitha Utshob will be organized at the divisional level including Rangpur. The festival will be included in the annual calendar of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and will be given regular patronage.

The Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the five-day National Cake Festival 1428 organized by the National Cake Festival Celebration Council, Rangpur at Rangpur Public Library field on Wednesday.

The festival was inaugurated by freedom fighter M Hamid under the chairmanship of Biplob Prasad, the convener of the National Cake Festival Celebration Council, Rangpur Division. 

The chief guest said that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs is working tirelessly for the preservation and expansion of culture and heritage of Bengalis. The State Minister said that the Pitha Utshob is an important element of Bengali culture. He said that in different parts of Bangladesh, a combination of different types of pitha-puli can be seen. 

KM Khalid said that greater Rangpur is a prosperous region of Bhawaiya. In order to hold regular Bhawaiya Utsav in Rangpur every year, it will also be included in the annual calendar of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and regular patronage will be provided.

DIG, Bangladesh Police Rangpur Range Devdas Bhattacharya, Deputy Commissioner Rangpur, Asib Ahsan, , President Rangpur District Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and, General Secretary Jatiya Pitha Utsav Udjapan Parishad Khandaker Shah Alam spoke on the occasion as special guests. Member Secretary, Jatiya Pitha Utsav Udjapan Parishad, Rangpur Division Ashraful Alam Al Amin delivered the welcome address on the occasion.

It may be mentioned that more than 30 stalls are participating in the Rangpur divisional phase of National Cake Festival 1428.

Earlier, the state minister visited Rangpur District Shilpakala Academy, Rangpur Divisional Government Public Library, Tajhat Zamindar Bari and Begum Rokeya Memorial Center.
