Foreign job seekers can apply online from Sunday

Online enrolment system for the workers interested in going abroad in 61 districts will begin on Sunday (tomorrow), says manpower bureau. The Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) informed in a recent notification that registration of skilled, low-skilled and professional men and women interested in going abroad will start on Sunday.

The BMET has initiated this programme to stop harassment and cheating by middlemen. The registration will start in 61 districts and the interested people can register through mobile banking (bkash / Surecash / Rocket) by sending Tk 200. According to the BMET notice, rendering to the government's election manifesto, about 1,000 workers from every upazila are expected to be sent abroad every year.

Notable, registration started in Dhaka district on August 1 last year. Later, the registration in Narayanganj and Gazipur districts started on October 26. Registration for the remaining 61 districts of the country will start from Sunday, February 9. The registration program will be conducted by the Central Database of BMET under the Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry.

In the notice, BMET states that the age of the candidates must be above 18 years. However, in the Middle East, women wanting to become domestic workers must be in the age of 25 to 45 years. The candidates must have a passport with six months validity and own mobile. The Authority will occasionally notify him/her the updated information of the registration via SMS.

The notification added that this registration is an ongoing process. Therefore, registration can be completed at any time after inauguration of registration at the concerned District Employment and Manpower Office or Technical Training Center. All qualifications or experience certificates should be attached to the database at the time of registration. The registration period will be two years. So if there is any qualification or experience gained during this period, there will be a chance to add it to the database.
