Registration for the international Fire Marathon-102 will begin on October 5 as the Fire Service and Civil Defence seeks to raise public awareness about its emergency hotline number 102 and promote fire and accident prevention.

The marathon, themed “Run & Rise for Humanity, Recall 102,” will be held on November 28 on the 300-feet Expressway in front of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Multipurpose Training Ground in Purbachal, Narayanganj.

The marathon is open to people of all ages and will feature four categories — a 21.1-kilometre half marathon, 10km, 5km and a 1.02km race for children.

Registration fees have been set at Tk902 for the 21.1km category, Tk802 for 10km, Tk702 for 5km and Tk502 for the 1.02km children’s race.

Registration will open at 12 noon on October 5 through the official website, firemarathon102.org. A total of 5,102 participants will be allowed to take part in the event.

The Fire Service said the initiative has been taken primarily to make the emergency hotline 102 more familiar to the public and encourage people to promptly report fires and other accidents.

Responding to a question about the marathon, Fire Service Director (Operations and Maintenance) Lt Col Md Mahmudul Hasan, PSC, said emergency services often receive information about fires and other accidents late.

“If we can make the Fire Service hotline 102 more familiar to people, the response time will be reduced and the extent of damage and loss can also be minimised,” he said.

He also said the event would help create a stronger bond between firefighters and members of the public.

“It will create a platform for firefighters and ordinary people to come closer and strengthen their relationship,” he added.

He urged people to participate in the AIMS Certified 2026 Fire International Marathon-102, contribute to building a safer Bangladesh and help spread awareness of the Fire Service emergency hotline 102.
