Within an hour of issuing home quarantine directive in the name of a Dhaka returnee youth and hoisting red flag in his house the flag was removed by the youth and her mother verbally abused the authority that put the flag.
The incident took place at Pashchim Kujishohor village of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila. The youth is identified as Shimul, son of Late Abdul Sattar works at a garments factory in Dhaka's Demra area. When all the garments were closed down due to corona virus spread, Shimul returned to home on Wednesday.
Hearing about this, Ruhia Union Chairman Md. Monirul Haque Babu, Union AL unit’s General Secretary Dulal Rabbani, Organizational Secretary of union Jubo League unit Mostofa and some others went to Shimul's house on Friday noon. They directed him to remain in home quarantine for 14 fays and put a red flag in front of his house to aware the neighbors.
But, he removed the red flag within an hour and verbally abused the UP Chairman and others.
UP chairman Monirul Haque Babu said when the red flag was put at the house of the Dhaka returnee youth, he protested. So, Chhatra League members became furious with him.
Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun said people returning from other districts have been directed to stay in home quarantine to prevent the transmission of corona virus. Red flags are being put at their houses so that people in the area will be able to easily recognize the houses of persons returning from Dhaka. Legal action will be taken against any person who roam around breaking home quarantine or removes the red flag.
