Foreign Minister and Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud said the Red Crescent Society will contribute to healthcare and human services in future.
It has played an important role in the reconstruction of the war-torn country.
Mentioning that he was a member of the Junior Red Cross during his school life, he said that he had the opportunity to work in various places and camps.
He also said, “I think the Red Crescent and Boys Scouting have played a big role in my life to get to where I am today after overcoming many obstacles in my life. The Red Crescent Society is working very well in the whole country to improve the human development index and health index of Bangladesh.”
The foreign minister came up with the assertion while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the newly elected executive committee of the Red Crescent Society Chattogram district unit, the reception ceremony of the BDRCS management council and the discussion of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on Saturday.
The minister said that doctors need to come forward first in improving health services.
Hasan Mahmud said, although frogs are very small animals, their voices are very loud. In politics too, there are some abandoned people who join all parties. People abandoned in politics are loud like frogs. I read a speech of Mahmudur Rahman Manna Bhai in the newspaper and heard it on television at night.
“Manna bhai said the government has no base at all. The Awami League government has been in power four times in a row because the government has no foundation. They wanted to throw us away. But while pulling, they fell down. Now they are slowly trying to stand up with their broken back. We saw the competition of run in front of Nayapaltan on October 28 last year,” he added.
Dr. Hashan Mahmud also said, “There are some other groups and individuals including Mahmudur Rahman Manna Bhai, who do not have any basis for their own party. Manna Bhai has changed only seven political parties so far.”
The minister said the whole world is appreciating the way the country is moving forward under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina. The Secretary General of the United Nations, the President of the United States of America, the President and Prime Minister of India, the German Chancellor, the President of the European Union appreciate Sheikh Hasina. But their allies including BNP cannot appreciate it. The country could have progressed much further without the culture of rejection and conflict in our politics.
