Recovery rate rises to 60pc

The recovery rate from the Covid-19 has risen to 60 percent in Bangladesh with 2,952 new patients being discharged from the hospitals in the last 24 hours.

Till 8am on Saturday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) registered 2,265 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 46 deaths.

With that, the number of patients surged to 292,625, deaths 3,907 and recoveries to 175,567 in Bangladesh.

A total of 11,356 samples were tested at 91 authorised laboratories Bangladesh during the time. Of that, 19.95 percent results came out positive for the virus.

Bangladesh first reported the disease on March 8 and the first death on March 18. The WHO declared the disease pandemic on March 11.

Among the total confirmed patients, 1.34 percent people died of the disease, according to the DGHS.

Currently, 53,263 people are quarantined across the country – including 1,219 newly-quarantined individuals.

A total of 426,137 people have completed their quarantine course.

According to the DGHS, 550 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 have been taken into isolation, bringing the total to 20,620 after 45,546 left.

The government has allocated 15,255 beds for Covid-19 treatment. Of them, less than one-third 4,292 beds are now occupied.

The DGHS said 213 ICU beds are available for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
