A reception was accorded to freedom fighters of the district by Netrakona district Muktizoddha Santan Sangsad at local public hall in Netrakona Sunday.
President of Sector Commanders Forum, Muktizoddho-71 Netrakona district unit and valiant freedom fighter Mohammad Shamsuzzuha addressed the function as chief guest with president of Netrakona district Muktizoddha Santan Sangsad professor Omar Faruk in the chair.
The ceremony was addressed, among others, by founder chairman of central command council of Muktizoddha Santan Sangsad Mohammad Sulaiman Mia, founder secretary general of central command council of Muktizoddha Santan Sangsad Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Babu, former chairman of Netrakona zila parishad Prasanta Kumar Ray, former member of Netrakona district Awami League Abul Monsur Ahmed,Valiant freedom fighters Abdul Motin Khan, Johirul Haque Hira, Khalilur Rahman Bir Pratik , Eklas Ahmed Kuraishi and Aiyub Ali, and convener of Gatok Dalal Nirmul Committee Netrakona district unit Kashob Ranjan Sarker and member secretary of the Gatok Dalal Nirmul committee, Netrakona district unit Shahin Uddin Ahmed.
The function was conducted by general secretary of Netrakona district Muktizoddha Santan Sangsad Rois Mohammad Habib Khan Mukti.
The speakers paid glowing tributes to the memories of all the martyred freedom fighters and other martyrs who laid down their lives during the liberation war in 1971 to free the motherland from the occupation of the then Pakistani armed forces.
They also called for greater unity and solidarity of the freedom fighters and all the pro-liberation forces to uphold the spirit of the liberation war and continue the current development spree and strengthen the hands of premier Sheikh Hasina who has been steering the nation towards progress and prosperity.
