Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali has taken charge as the 14th Director General (DG) of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, the maritime law enforcement force under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taki, media officer at Bangladesh Coast Guard headquarters, confirmed the matter via a media statement on Wednesday.
Earlier, an order was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on January 14 appointing him as the new chief of the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
Rear Admiral Ershad joined the Bangladesh Navy on January of 1987 and was commissioned in the executive branch on the 1st of July 1989.
He went through various educational and training courses both at home and abroad.
