Demanding immediate cancellation of the Detailed Area Planning (DAP), the country's apex body on real estate sector, the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) on Wednesday demanded approval of building designs according to Dhaka City Building Construction Rules-2008 and Master Plan (DAP) 2010.
REHAB leaders made the demands at a press conference organised at the city's CIRDAP auditorium.
REHAB President Wahidujjaman readout a written handout in the press conference while REHAB senior vice president Liaqat Ali Bhuiyan, Vice President Engr Abdul Latif, Vice President Abdur Razzak, were present among others.
Congratulating the new Chief Advisers and others Advisers, the REHAB President said the development of Dhaka city has stalled after the DAP was passed in 2022.
He said some amendments were brought hurriedly soon after DAP was passed but it could not help reducing crisis in the housing sector that has created dissatisfaction among a wide range of people.
"Now developers are failing to undertake new project because of this discriminatory detailed area planning. Even people are getting no interest in approving their plan those who are building home by their own. This crisis will intensify after the next one year and the whole real estate industry will face a severe setback", he added.
