Under the 'Clean Village, Clean Town Programme' taken in observance of Mujib Borsho, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated the works of cleaning culverts and drains of Southern to Northern areas of the city on Wednesday noon. He inaugurated the programme at Bandhogate areas of the city.
The cleaning programme was attended, among others, by Panel Mayor-1 and councillor of ward-12 Shariful Islam Babu, Councilor of ward-5 Kamaruzzaman, Councillor of Ward-19 Touhidul Haque Sumon, Deputy Chief Conservation Officer Nirjhor, Monitoring Officer Sajad Ali and Tasnim Ara.
Chief Conservation Officer Sheikh informed, the works of cleaning of mud and garbages of North-southwardly 46 culverts and various drains have been inagurated. The works of the cleaning will continue for next 90-day and he hopes, the entire cleaning programme will be ended before the starting of the Rainy season so that there is an easy removal of rain water through the drains and culverts, there is no water logging and no increase in mosquito breeding.
