Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) will launch a mass-vaccination campaign against Covid-19 again from Saturday, reports BSS.
The campaign will be conducted in 84 centres at all 30 wards simultaneously on Saturday and Wednesday. Two health workers and three volunteers will be deployed in each of the centres for vaccination purposes.
A total of 300 people, who have registered their names, will get the first dose of modarna vaccines in each of the centres from 9 am to 2pm.
“We have received 60,480 doses of moderna vaccines afresh for the purposes,” said Dr AFM Anzuman Ara Begum, Chief Health officer of RCC.
She said 78,873 people were vaccinated in the mass-vaccination campaign in two consecutive days in the city on August 7 and 8 last.
She also said 2,48,637 people have, so far, been vaccinated, including both first and second doses, in the city. Of those, 1,38,819 received the first dose of moderna vaccines, 1,02,562 AstraZeneca vaccines, including the first and second doses, and 6,965 cinopharma vaccines, including the first and second doses.
Meanwhile, 2.80 lakh people registered their names for taking the Covid-19 vaccines in the city, Dr Begum added.
City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has faced the Covid-19 pandemic with courage and arranged vaccines to protect the people from the lethal virus.
He said the premier has adopted an epoch-making step by launching union and ward level vaccination programmes from August 7 and urged all quarters to extend their whole-hearted cooperation for making the programme a total success.
