RCC attains 100pc immunisation

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has attained 100 percent success in immunization activities as results of its strong and dynamic leadership.

It had launched electronic registration of Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) on April 19, 2019 and so far brought 57,512 babies and 51,775 mothers under the programme attaining the success.

The city corporation held advocacy meetings for the health workers and each of them was imparted training besides giving tabs for making the programme successful.

"We have got full support from the government of Bangladesh and the World Health Organization (WHO) to achieve the success," said Awami League Presidium Member and RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.

He was addressing a motivational workshop for municipality mayors on EPI and declaration of the achievement at the city Bhaban conference hall in Rajshahi on Monday as chief guest.

Mayor Liton said they have brought all the babies under immunization through the EPI electronic registration thereby the babies were protected from ten diseases.

"We are committed to ensure legitimate rights of the children for their proper mental and physical development," Mayor Liton said, adding they have 14 healthcare centres, two maternal centres and a city hospital for providing primary healthcare services.

Line Director of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr Shamsul Haque, WHO Representative Dr Bardhan Jong Rana, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi division Moinul Islam, Divisional Director of Health Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder and EPI Programme Manager Dr Abdullah Al Murad also spoke on the occasion.

With RCC Panel Mayor Shariful Islam in the chair, Chief Health Officer Dr Anzuman Ara Begum gave an overview of the city's health services along with the achievements during her keynote presentation.

In his remarks, Dr Shamsul Haque termed the triumph of 100 percent success in EPI activities as RCC's laudable and revolutionary achievement.
