Agriculture Minister and Awami League presidium member Dr. Md. Abdur Razzque urges Japanese company Yanmar to set up factory to manufacture agricultural machinery locally in Bangladesh

He said the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is giving huge subsidy to agricultural machinery to accelerate agricultural mechanization in Bangladesh. As a result, the interest of farmers in the use of machinery in agriculture has increased and a huge market for agricultural machinery has been created. Demand for this specialty has grown significantly as a result of recent corporate scandals. Therefore, Yanmar can make agricultural implements locally in Bangladesh.

The Agriculture Minister said this to Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki while inspecting an exhibition of agricultural machinery of Myanmar Company at Deepto Television premises in Dhaka on Friday.

Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki said that a joint venture with Bangladesh would be set up to develop agricultural machinery in the country.

Chairman of BADC AFM Hayatullah, DG of Agriculture Extension Department Benazir Alam, DG of Agricultural Research Institute Debashish Roy, Managing Director of ACI Agro FM Ansari were present during the visit.

Later, the Minister of Agriculture attended the ACI Deepto Krishi Awards as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners.

At that time, the Agriculture Minister said, “Bangladesh was once a country of food shortage. Now we are producing essential food for about 160 million people from this small country. At present there is no shortage of food in the country. But now the challenge is to ensure adequate nutrition for all. We are working towards this goal under the leadership of the Prime Minister.”

Referring to Japan, the Agriculture Minister said that Japan is a very industrialized country. Yet they attach the utmost importance to agricultural production, so that they do not have to depend on others for food.

We too cannot depend on others for food. That is why the present government is giving utmost importance to agriculture.

In addition, Turkish Ambassador Mustafa Usman Turan, Managing Director of Deepto TV Kazi Jahedul Hasan and others spoke.
