Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Raushan Ershad was admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Thursday night as she fell ill.

Raushan’s assistant private secretary Mamun Hasan said the 77-year-old opposition leader was taken to the CMH around 9pm on Thursday with dehydration and acidity problems.

“She’s now doing well, and doctors said her condition is stable,” Mamun told UNB on Friday afternoon.

Before the admission to the CMH, he said Raushan, the widow of former military ruler HM Ershad, underwent Covid test and the report came out to be negative.

Mamun said the Raushan underwent some other necessary tests at the CMH.

He said Raushan, also the chief patron of Jatiya Party, is likely to be discharged from the hospital either on Saturday or Sunday.
