Locals rescued a rare large vulture of almost extinct species at Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet on Tuesday morning.
It is learned that the vulture being sick came down in the bushes near Master Badruzzaman's house at Bhatdihi village in Kanaighat Sadar Union.
As the vulture could not fly, Badruzzaman rescuing it with the help of locals, kept it in his house and took care of it.
Later on Thursday noon, the vulture was brought to Kanaighat Upazila Animal Resources Hospital for
treatment.
Kanaighat Upazila Animal Resources Officer. Iqbal Hossain said the vulture weighing 8.3 kg, was kept under observation after being provided with first aid, food.
He added that the Upazila Beat Officer and Sylhet Wildlife Office have been contacted. Once the bird is healthy, it will be released through the Forest Officer.
