A rare species of Takkhak was recovered from a house in Purbapara area of Gabtali Upazila on Sunday night.
The man was arrested while the police seized the rare Takkhak from his house.
The detained Lebu Mia is the son of late Shamsul Fakir of Purbapara area.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Niaz Mehdi at a press conference at Gabtali Model Police Station informed the news on Monday.
He said that the policemen raided Lebu Mia's house and arrested Lebu Mia along with Takkhak after receiving information that Takkhak was bought and sold at high prices.
Meanwhile, other members of the gang escaped.
The length of the Takkhak is 11 inches and weight is about 200 grams. Its estimated value is Tk 1.0 crore. According to court order, the Takshak will be handed over to Forest Department. Gabtali Police Station OC Abul Kalam Azad along with policemen were present in the press conference.
